Emily Murphy
Third-year left-side, Emily Murphy, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Volleyball.
Emily stepped in and played a big role in the Mystics 3-0 win over Dal AC on Friday night to help the team secure a playoff spot. Emily had 8 kills and a hitting percentage of .304. She also had 10 digs and 1 ace.
A Biology student, Emily is from Moncton, NB.
Amanda Pearcey
Fourth-year guard, Amanda Pearcey, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Basketball.
Amanda helped lead the Mystics to two road wins versus the UNBSJ Seawolves. Her scoring touch was on full display with her ability to shoot 3-pointers, get to the rim and foul line. Amanda's average over the two games was 24.5 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 1.5 steals. Most impressive was her shooting, where she went 42% from the three-point line, hitting 8 of 19 shots and overall shot 47% from the field, making 19 of 40 shots. She also added a career-high 5 offensive boards in Sunday's game.
A Biology and Psychology student, Amanda is from Torbay, NL.
Jaxon Smith
Fifth-year forward, Jaxon Smith, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Men's Basketball.
During the weekend games at UNBSJ, Jaxon made countless plays on defence, provided consistent leadership, and led the Mystics with a weekend-high 28 points in Sunday’s 85-75 win.
A General Studies student, Jaxon is from Beechville, NS.
