Haylie Jackson, Marley Curwin and Jaxon Smith are this week's Lawtons Drugs Athletes of the Week.
Haylie Jackson
Second-year libero, Haylie Jackson, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Volleyball.
Haylie led the Mystics defensively on the weekend in their two matches. She was consistent on serve/receive and, in the match on Saturday, led the team with 21 digs and three assists. On Sunday, she had 16 digs and two assists.
A Biology student, Haylie is from Fall River, NS.
Marley Curwin
Fifth-year guard, Marley Curwin, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Women's Basketball.
According to Coach Forward: "Marley took on more of a scoring role in the last regular game of the 2024-25 season." She scored 25 points on 8-16 shooting from the field, including hitting on four of six three-pointers. Marley also went to the foul line for seven shots, hitting five of them. With one of our top scorers out of the lineup, Marley stepped up her scoring by adding 15 more points than her average, even with her in early foul trouble and spending most of the second quarter on the bench.
Marley also added seven rebounds to help the Mystics finish the season with a 15-3 overall record and first place in the ACAA heading into the conference championships.
A Masters of Applied Human Nutrition student, Marley is from Halifax, NS.
Jaxon Smith
Fifth-year forward, Jaxon Smith, is this week’s Lawtons Athlete of the Week for Men's Basketball.
Jaxon had a game-high 25 points in his final home game as a Mystic. He also contributed five rebounds, three steals, and two assists, helping the Mystics defeat the UKC Blue Devils, 88-79.
A General Studies student, Jaxon is from Beechville, NS.
