How long have you been playing volleyball?
11 years.
Did you play any other sports growing up?
Yes, I played as many sports as I could! I played soccer, hockey, basketball, badminton, and track & field.
What is the most memorable moment in your career thus far?
It would definitely have to be my first year here at MSVU (2021-2022) when we won the ACAA championships at home with the most incredible crowd ever. It was a different experience since COVID-19 was impacting everything, but we battled through the season and some very tough games to make it to the finals to come out on top. What a feeling it was.
Why did you come to the Mount?
I have always heard great things about MSVU, the school, the professors, and especially the sports. It has been a dream of mine since I was a child to play a sport in university. I decided volleyball was the sport I wanted to make a go of. MSVU was a great option for both my education and my athletic career, and it has exceeded my expectations since choosing to attend this university.
Did any of your family members attend the Mount?
My mother attended the Mount two separate times. She attended back in 1985 for her undergrad then returned in 2015 for her Bachelor of Education. While she attended for her undergrad she played basketball, soccer, and cross country.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love doing literally anything outside, any activity done outside as opposed to inside is a million times more fun. I also love to do puzzles, word searches, and colouring by number. I love hanging out with friends and family especially playing any form of game. And of course I love, love, love to play sports of any kind.
I went to Nashville this summer for a conference where I got to see my brother talk as speaker. It was amazing to see Nashville for the first time as well as seeing my brother do an amazing job on his talk.
"Champions don’t wait for things to happen; champions find their own ways to win, fair and square. They don't wait for success to come to them; they go after success."
If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Sushi. Definitely sushi, it has my heart.
You can only put three things on a pizza, what would they be?
1. Spicy salami 2. Caramelized onions and 3. Arugula
I would go with a water buffalo. They have a very gentle nature which people usually see in their interactions with humans. But they are at the same time very strong and resilient creatures. I can relate to them since I am very extroverted and love humans, and I am also a strong and resilient person.
If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you win gold in?
Folding laundry. I love folding laundry so much and I take it very seriously. I do it very neatly and fast.
What is your pre-game routine?
As a team, we have a pre-game routine of taking 2 minutes of silence followed by a quote before entering the gym to begin warmup. During these 2 minutes some people visualize what they are going to do during the game, but I spend that time in prayer which puts me in a perfect headspace to play.
What's your dream vacation destination?
My dream destination is Greece. I have always wanted to live a Mamma Mia life.
If you could switch lives with someone for day, who would you choose?
