The Msytics played to a 1-1 draw with the University of King's College Blue Devils Wednesday night in the regular season home opener on Mianland Commons.
Both teams battled early on in the match with the Mystics pressing early on in the first until back-to-back fouls in the 18-yard box giving the Blue Devils two scoring opportunities on penalty kicks.
Mystics keeper Tristan Brocklehurst handled the first shot easily, but 10 minutes later, Jonah Cameron was able to capitalize on the opportunity to put King's up 1-0 in extra time in the first half.
The second half was much like the first, with both teams trading scoring opportunities and fouls throughout. Alex Bellefontaine had a beautiful chance for the Mystics and King's had a great opportunity on a Mystics turnover in front of the net but Brocklehurst was able to make the diving save.
With less than 10 minutes remaining in regulation, Mystics midfielder Andrew Omojuwa found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to knot the game at 1-1, which is how the game would end.
Brocklehurst made five saves in the matc, while King's keeper Liam Collings made three.
The Mystics are back in action Sunday, September 15 at 3;15pm at Mainland Commons.
